I have realized something very significant in the past few years. I can have as much or as little of God as I want. This is one of those “duh” things that I always agreed with when someone else said it, but everything changes when you really believe it.
There is a story in the Gospel of Luke about a man named Zacharias. An angel appears to Zacharias and tells him that his barren wife is going to have a baby, and this baby will be filled with the Holy Spirit while he is still in his mothers womb. Years later this baby, John the Baptist, would say in John 3:34 “…God gives the Spirit without limit.” This was a man who knew what it was like to be consumed with God before he was even born! We have this invitation to be filled to overflow and beyond with God! It is in our Heavenly Fathers heart to pour out His Spirit on all people (Joel 2:28)! So what’s the catch? There isn’t one.
If you want more of God, you will get it! “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?” (Luke 11:13)
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be filled(Matthew 5:6).
So the only question is…How much do you want?
